WHALETEQ HRS200

PPG Heart Rate Simulator for R&D

The PPG Heart Rate Simulator is designed for research and development (R&D), allowing users to adjust parameters through software to generate precise test signals. This capability enables effective verification and improvement of heart rate function accuracy in wearable devices.

The simulator supports compliance testing in accordance with the latest international medical standard: IEC 63203-402-3:2024.

HRS200 – PPG Heart Rate Simulator for Wearable Device Testing

Wearable devices utilizing PPG (Photoplethysmography) technology for non-invasive heart rate measurement mark a significant advancement in personal healthcare. However, early verification methods, such as gray card testing, were limited to checking whether the photodetector and LED were functioning. They could not evaluate the performance or accuracy of the heart rate function.

The HRS200 Solution

To meet the demands of modern wearable devices, we developed the HRS200 PPG Heart Rate Simulator. This device uses green light to simulate PPG signals, providing engineers with a comprehensive tool for precise and repeatable performance testing.

Key Features:

  1. Parameter Adjustment via Software
    • Engineers can fine-tune critical parameters, including:
      • Heart Rate (BPM)
      • Reflected Brightness (DC), simulating different skin tones
      • Arterial Blood Volume Variation (AC)
      • Perfusion Index (PI): (AC/DC) × 100%

These settings allow manufacturers to verify and optimize their heart rate function design.

  2. Noise Simulation Function
    • The HRS200 can superimpose 50Hz or 60Hz electrical noise onto PPG signals.
    • This enables testing of a product’s ability to handle real-world noise interference effectively.
  3. Raw Data Playback
    • Supports playback of clinical data or user-defined signals.
    • Enables testing of interpretation capabilities and facilitates advanced verification scenarios.

Industry Recognition

The HRS200 represents our first product developed from a performance testing perspective, rather than solely for compliance. Our innovative AC/DC-based PPG testing methodology has gained industry-wide recognition.

  • We were invited by the Federation of China (Shenzhen) Wearable Industry to contribute to the creation of their first testing standard for smart wearables based on ECG/PPG technology.

Addressing New Testing Needs

As wearable devices continue to incorporate advanced functions, such as blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and blood pressure monitoring, we have expanded our product offerings. Devices like the AECG100 Simulator address these emerging testing requirements, ensuring that manufacturers can validate all aspects of their products.

Our Commitment

Whether it’s our original PPG heart rate simulator HRS200 or our advanced models, our mission remains clear:
To provide manufacturers with reliable, precise, and advanced test equipment that enhances the quality and accuracyof wearable devices, delivering superior products to end users.
